Rubik Cube

Nestled in the lovely town of Knoxville is a hidden treasure, the worlds’ largest Rubik cube. largest Rubik’s Cube ever built measured approximately 1.57 meters (5 feet, 1.8 inches) on each side. This means that each of its individual cubelets was about 17.7 centimeters (7 inches) wide. The massive cube was built by a team of enthusiasts and engineers who dedicated significant time and effort to design and construct it. Achieving a functional cube at this scale required careful engineering.

The original Rubik’s Cube, simply known as the “Rubik’s Cube,” is a 3D combination puzzle that was invented by Hungarian sculptor and professor Ernő Rubik in 1974. It was originally called the “Magic Cube” but was later renamed after its creator. Here are some key details about the original Rubik’s Cube: Ernő Rubik created the Cube as a teaching tool to help his students understand three-dimensional geometry. He patented it in Hungary in 1975, and later patents were obtained in various other countries. The first prototype of the Rubik’s Cube was made of wood and featured smaller cubes that were connected internally with rubber bands. Each face of the cube was a different color, and the goal was to rearrange the colors so that each face had a single, solid color.

Today this creation holds a Guinness World Records for officially being the largest functional Rubik’s Cube.  The cube is located inside the Knoxville Convention Center  so be sure to check the hours beforehand.  The cube is located on the corner closest to the needle by the human bridge.
