Before the hike we savored a tea from the locals to assist with the altitude. There is a plant called Muña (Minthostachys mollis) that is native to the Andean region of South America and is commonly used to make tea.
The tea is made by steeping the dried leaves of the Muña plant in hot water. It is known for its refreshing and calming properties and is said to aid digestion, relieve headaches, and reduce stress and anxiety. In addition to its medicinal properties, Muña tea is also enjoyed for its pleasant taste and aroma, which is described as being similar to a combination of mint and eucalyptus.
