We were honored to be in the presence of the youngest living Medal of Honor recipient hearing him speak about sacrifice. William Kyle Carpenter is a medically retired United States Marine who received the United States’ highest military honor, the Medal of Honor, for his actions in Marjah, Helmand Province, Afghanistan in 2010.
My lessons learned:
Kyle doesn’t hide his scars.
You are worth it.
Call you mother.
Big battles are accomplished by small victories and that even the smallest of steps completes the grandest of journeys. It is a journey of the human spirit.
My life, and my future, belong only to me, and I made the decision that I was worth fighting for.
