In 1897, in LeRoy New York, carpenter and cough syrup manufacturer Pearle Bixby Wait trademarked a gelatin dessert called Jell-O. The word “gelatine” comes originally from Latin word “gelatus” and means “jellied, froze.” Gelatin was first used in Egyptian times. Traces of gelatin were found in a pharaoh grave in the form of glue.
Jell-O Trivia: The people of Salt Lake City consume more lime-flavored gelatin than any other city in the United States.
